Today we made a gourmet protein bar called ‘Maple-Walnut Wonder’.
For this 18 ingredient recipe, the customer chose a ‘soft & nutty/seedy’ base combining the following ingredients:
- Fiber syrup
- Maple pecan butter
- Whey protein isolate
- Brown rice protein
- Pea protein isolate
By combining whey and vegan protein together, there is less of an ‘earthy’ flavor, and overall protein levels are higher.
Additional selections for this recipe include walnuts, coconut, and banana. All of these ingredients add some texture, fiber, and flavor.
For omega 3 fatty acids and higher fiber content, both flaxseeds and flaxseed powder were selected.
To really intensify the flavor, this customer decided to add a combination of ingredients and multiple flavor oils including:
- Maple sugar flakes
- Coconut oil
- Vanilla extract
- Maple flavor
- Caramel flavor
- Sea salt
The last two ingredients in this recipe were bee pollen and collagen powder. Neither of these ingredients changes the taste of the bar, but they increase protein and antioxidant content.
