Today we made a protein bar recipe the customer named ‘Bar-B-Bar’.
The texture selected by the customer was ‘soft & chewy’, which is the most popular option. This ‘base’ selection comes with dates, and your choice of nut butter, protein powder/flour, and ‘binder’.
For this recipe, the following three options were chosen:
- Cashew butter
- Clover honey
- Pea protein isolate
In addition to the main ingredients, the customer also added some nuts, seeds, and dried fruit to add texture and flavor.
Here is a list of those options they selected:
- Cacao nibs (chocolatey crunch)
- Hemp hearts (nutty flavor, omega 3’s)
- Flaxseeds (fiber, omega 3’s)
- Tart cherries (sour and delicious, high in antioxidants)
- Blueberries (flavorful, high in antioxidants)
To increase the flavor profile of the ‘Barb-B-Bar’ recipe, sea salt and liquid vanilla extract were the final choices. Both of these ingredients work really well when combined with just about any ingredients.

Expect a slightly ‘earthy’ honey-cashew laden flavor with a chewy texture. Cacao nibs and flaxseeds add some crunch, while the tart cherries further increase chewiness. Although the vanilla and sea salt are hidden in the background, they both help bring out the flavor of other ingredients in this concoction.
