All of our custom protein bars contain a certain percentage of nut/seed butter (the actual percentage depends on the base you choose).
Nut and seed butters are high in healthy fats, adding lots of flavor and palatability to each bite of your bar. They also have respectable levels of protein, helping contribute to the overall protein content of your bar.
Since we offer nine different nut butters, we decided to create this post to offer more insight about each option.
Below is a more information about each of the nut/seed butters you can select when creating your own bar:
Roasted Almond Butter
One of our most popular options, a great choice if you love almond flavor. Good protein content.
Our top choice because has a smooth and neutral flavor profile. Helps maximize the flavors of the other ingredients you add to your bar.
Chocolate Hazelnut Butter (Roasted)
The combination of roasted hazelnuts, chocolate, and sea salt makes this an option that you simply can’t go wrong with no matter what type of bar you are after.
Chocolate Honey Almond Butter
Roasted almonds, chocolate, honey, and sea salt. A smooth chocolatey flavor with just the right level of sweetness.
Chocolate Honey Cashew Butter
One of the smoothest gourmet nut butter options with the perfect combination of sweet and salty. Another one of the nut butters that work with just about any ingredient combination.
Maple Pecan Butter
Incredible flavor, one of our top choices for the ultimate dessert bar.
A legume, but classified as a nut/nut butter by most. Highest in protein and calories of all of the options. Very strong flavor profile even when mixed with another nut or seed butter.
Raw Almond Butter
Raw almond butter has a smooth flavor, not as strong as roasted almond butter. Contains beneficial enzymes not found in roasted almonds. Made with unpasteurized European almonds.
Sunflower Seed Butter
Sunflower seed butter is currently the only nut-free option. It has a strong sunflower seed flavor that will overpower many other ingredients in your bar. Lower in protein than the nut butters.
Nut & Seed Butter FAQ
Below is a list of answers to the most commonly asked questions about nut and seed butters in our protein bars.
WHICH NUT BUTTER IS HIGHEST IN PROTEIN?
Peanut butter (technically a legume, not a nut) is highest in protein and is, therefore, the best option if you are trying to build a nutrition bar that’s high in protein.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RAW AND ROASTED ALMOND BUTTER?
Roasted almond butter is made with almonds that have been heated, whereas raw almond butter is made with raw almonds straight out of the shell. Roasted almond butter is more flavourful, but lacks some of the enzymes found in raw almond butter.
WHAT IS THE BEST OPTION FOR NUT ALLERGIES?
Sunflower seed butter is currently the only nut-free option we offer in the nut & seed butter section.
CAN I COMBINE NUT & SEED BUTTERS?
Yes! Up to three nut and seed butters can be combined.
AREN’T NUT BUTTERS HIGH IN FAT?
Nut & seed butter are high in fat but don’t contain any trans-fats (the unhealthy type of fat).
DO ANY OF YOUR NUT BUTTERS CONTAIN PRESERVATIVES?
All of the nut butter we use in our custom protein bars are natural and contain no preservatives.
WHICH PROTEIN BAR BASE CONTAINS THE MOST NUT BUTTER?
The ‘Soft & Nutty/Seedy’ base contains the highest percentage of nut butter of any of our bases. If your goal is to maximize nutty flavor and/or create a low carb bar, this should be your choice.
WHICH NUT BUTTER IS ORGANIC
All of the nut and seed butter we offer is organic except roasted almond butter.
WHICH NUT BUTTER TASTES THE BEST?
It really depends on the flavor profile you are trying to achieve in your bar. Cashew butter is definitely the most ‘neutral’ in terms of flavor, so it’s a good choice if you want to enjoy more of the flavor from the other ingredients in your bar. If you like almonds, roasted almond butter is a great choice.
